Due to the impending retirement of the baby boomer generation, the US will experience one of the largest shifts in assets in history. Nearly 10,000 baby boomers will be turning 65 every day for the next 15 years. There are estimated to be 6 million small businesses with employees in the US of which 66 percent are owned by baby boomers. All will have some version of ownership transitions and a vast majority of these will likely be offered for sale, so that the owner can fund his or her retirement. According to Inc. magazine and industry experts, baby boomers are expected to sell 4 million small businesses representing $10 trillion in equity.
